BUILD Dialogues #2 Leca® LWA at CEDEX Track Box
Performance Under Pressure
Meet the experts at the CEDEX Track Box.
In this webinar, you will gain detailed insight into the PEDLER project (Performance and Durability of a Leca lightweight expanded clay filling in Railway embankments). The main objective of the project is to understand the behavior of expanded clay (Leca® LWA) used as embankment material in high-speed railway infrastructure.
The session presents the results of full-scale (1:1) tests carried out at the CEDEX Track Box (Madrid, Spain), focusing on performance, durability, and material behavior under conditions representative of high-speed rail traffic (up to 400 km/h).
We will present results under static and dynamic conditions, simulating train arrival, passage, and departure at different speeds. Fatigue test results after the passage of one million railway convoys will also be shown. Most importantly, the session will include a comparison with conventional railway embankments, addressing a key question: do Leca embankments have any limitations in use, or not?
You will meet the project experts in a session hosted by LECA International, where research outcomes, testing methodology, and practical implications for railway embankment design will be discussed, with time allocated for questions and discussion.
Your hosts for this session:
- José Estaire - PhD in Civil Engineering, Head of Department at the Centro de Estudios y Experimentación de Obras Públicas, Head of the CEDEX Track Box
- Raúl Murciego Zaballos - Head of Consulting & Sales Strategy. Infrastructure Projects, Leca Spain.
