Next Step - On the way to a sustainable future

Our commitment is to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by 50% before 2030 and achieve Carbon Neutral in 2050

Leca® Lightweight Aggregate (LWA) has been in the market for more than 75 years and is actually more modern than ever. Why? Because our products positively contribute to living conditions and wellbeing by reducing the negative impact from climate change or cleaning and filtering the water for tomorrow. We actively take responsibility in protecting the environment, producing and delivery resource efficient products with a specific focus on our sustainable footprint. That is our vision. To achieve this standard every day we work to make our processes more efficient - consuming less resources to guarantee the quality and characteristics of our product.

LECA is part of the Saint-Gobain Group which is committed in reduce the greenhouse gas emissions and achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050. We base our commitments on profound environmental analyses according to the GHG Protocol, which manage the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from operations, value chains and mitigation actions. This methodology allows us to analyze the emissions related to the direct and indirect emissions from production and supply chain emissions, considering both upstream as downstream supply.

Our intermediate commitment is reducing the greenhouse gas emissions by 30% in 2025 followed by 50% reduction by 2030, achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050.  For that LECA will invest in clean processes, substituting the consumption of fossil fuels with green energy. At the same time, we intend to reduce the consumption of virgin materials in our operations and improving the circular economy with our customers and partners. To bring to You and to the Planet an even more sustainable product.

We up-cycle the natural resources

During our production we give back to the Planet more than we take. Why? Because we transform 1m3 of freshly excavated clay into 5m3 of lightweight construction material. Through this highly resourceful return of 1:5, we feel that our production positively impacts the full life circle of a natural resource, from cradle to grave. By combining the All-in-One features such as being durable, strong, lightweight, water absorbent and recyclable, we bring more sustainable characteristics to your project like being lightweight, thermally insulated, drainage efficient with no leaching of dangerous substances. Furthermore, the material can in fact be 100% reused or recycled, if any contamination occurs during the installation and first application.

Why to focus on sustainable products

Our Mission is clear and strongly based on the 3 Sustainability pillars; Economy, Social and Environment. We compromise our actions in all our production sites and with our customers, for together to create a more sustainable way of producing, distributing and constructing. We intend to produce products and solutions that improve the sustainability of buildings and constructions which again improve the quality of life. We focus on being resource efficient, produce a long lasting product that can be reused 100% after use, building our strategy on a life-cycle approach.

We have a long history in the construction market, starting more than 100 years ago.  And we want to continue our legacy and aim to work towards reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in 2030, improving the circular economy with our partners and to establish an eco-friendlier way of delivering our products.
