Kim Rosenbom Appointed President of EXCA

Kim Rosenbom EXCA

Leca International congratulates Kim Rosenbom on his appointment as the new President of the Expanded Clay Association (EXCA).

We are pleased to share the news that Kim Rosenbom has been appointed President of EXCA, representing the expanded clay industry across Europe at a time when sustainable construction, decarbonisation, and resilient infrastructure are becoming increasingly important.

In his first statement as President, Kim expressed his gratitude for the support of EXCA's member companies and highlighted the association's commitment to advancing production processes, applications, and standardisation across the expanded clay industry.

"I am grateful for the support from all EXCA member companies and happy to take on the role of President. Together, we will continue to build on EXCA's work on production processes, applications and standardization."
– Kim Rosenbom, President, EXCA

Expanded Clay Supporting Europe's Sustainable Future

Expanded clay has long been recognised as a versatile and high-performance construction material. Its unique combination of lightweight performance, durability, circularity, and long service life makes it an ideal solution for projects across:

  • Infrastructure
  • Housing and building construction
  • Water management
  • Green and climate-resilient urban development

As Europe continues to pursue ambitious climate and environmental objectives, expanded clay products help engineers and designers create solutions that reduce resource consumption, improve resilience, and support more sustainable construction practices.

Driving Decarbonisation Across the Industry

The expanded clay industry is committed to reducing its environmental impact.

While production is energy intensive, EXCA members are actively investing in:

  • Renewable energy
  • Increased production efficiency
  • Lower-carbon manufacturing processes
  • Innovative applications that help reduce CO₂ emissions throughout the built environment

The industry also continues to promote Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as an essential tool for evaluating the environmental performance of construction materials, from cradle to gate and beyond, providing transparent data that supports better decision-making.

Looking Ahead

Strong collaboration between industry, policymakers, and the construction sector will be essential to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable built environment.

With continued recognition from European policymakers and support for innovative, circular construction materials, expanded clay can continue to play a significant role in delivering resilient infrastructure, efficient buildings, and sustainable water management solutions.

Leca International looks forward to supporting EXCA's work under Kim Rosenbom's leadership and contributing to the continued development of the expanded clay industry across Europe.

Congratulations, Kim, on your new role, we wish you every success as President of EXCA.
